Accessible Splash Pad
Friends of Stewart Park is revitalizing Stewart Park by restoring its historic past, creating a safe and accessible park for the present, and re-envisioning for an incredible future.
The third & final phase of Stewart Park’s Inclusive Playground is a bigger, better Splash Pad and Bathroom. The completely accessible Splash Pad features dynamic sprinklers, water-saving interactive activation, and differentiation in spray zones.
The adjacent Playground Bathroom provides accessible, plenty of room for dressing, and an adult-sized changing table, right in the heart of the playground.
Funding for the Stewart Park Splash Pad project comes in part through an Environmental Protection Fund grant (EPF #210131) administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; NY State support through Assemblymember Anna Kelles; Tompkins County Tourism Program; the City of Ithaca, and private donations.
Thank you to Edger Enterprises, Taitem Engineering, all the incredible folks at the City of Ithaca, and a huge thank you to Parkitects’ KJ Armstrong and Nathan for designing a splash pad that’s brings so much joy to so many children!
Playground Bathrooms
This new seasonal bathroom building, adjacent to the and splash pad, will evoke a sign of relief from kids and parents alike! Located within the play area, this ADA-compliant restroom will match strides with FSP’s goals for parkwide inclusivity by providing women’s, men’s and and all-gender/family bathroom with an adult changing table.
