There would be no broken ground nor cut ribbons without your generosity and encouragement. Thank you!   Our approach has always been to look ahead instead of back, but this year we are doing both as FSP co-founder Rick Manning is retiring from his role as Executive Director, and Meloney McMurry has now joined us as our new ED. Rick led FSP with intelligence, enthusiasm, dedication, energy, and inimitable kindness. He is a visionary, a doer, and one of the nicest people you’re ever going to meet. That’s a powerful combination. Rick makes sure things get done, and does so through hard work, and with warmth and humor, ensuring FSP is a wonderful place to work. As one chapter ends, another begins, and FSP is thrilled to welcome Meloney McMurry as our new Executive Director. Meloney brings broad experience in not-for-profit management and local government, having worked as an attorney, urban planner, local government official and community volunteer. It is a credit to Rick, having created a strong and healthy organization, that FSP will continue to revitalize and help maintain Stewart Park and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail for the next generation, under our new leadership–and, in an extra piece of good news, Rick will stay on in a consulting capacity throughout 2025 as Meloney settles into her new role. Best, Diana Riesman Board Chair/FSP Executive Director/Wharton Studio Museum Make A Year End Gift Today 2024 in Pictures 2024 brought the groundbreaking and opening of the Splash Pad and Playground Bathroom, as well as groundbreaking for the Addition to the back of the Picnic Pavilion (storage for Stewart Park Day Camp and paving the way for the Wharton Studio & Cafe’). Sponsors helped us add new furnishings to the park, with more to come; and provided 15 free carousel days. We celebrated our past with a roaring 20s themed Party for the Park and new interpretive signs, funded in part by Legacy Foundation. We made new hats ($25 donation on our website) and viewed beautiful skies. Volunteers put in over 400 hours of work on the Park and Trail. We wished a fund farewell to longtime Stewart Park DPW Manager, Rob Lilly as he retired. And we wish our co-founder and long term Executive Director Rick Manning all the best as he retires as Executive Director. Please consider a year-end gift to Friends of Stewart Park today.
