Matching Grant to help us Match the Mayor!

Stewart Park needs you! $20,000 matching gift opportunity 💙
July 16, 2021
Thanks to the 300 or so folks who came out to celebrate Stewart Park's 100th Birthday! While the CCO brass quintet played jubilant tunes, the rain began, and folks piled into the Tea Pavilion, adding even more fun to the event.
Match the Mayor this Month!

This year we are celebrating a century of Stewart Park. On July 4th, 1921, the park opened as the first lakefront public park. Mayor Stewart led the community’s effort to purchase, renovate and open the park to the public and donated $150,000 towards this end. Sadly, he passed away just three weeks before its opening day.

To honor Mayor Stewart’s vision and generosity, the Friends of Stewart Park have created the Mayor Stewart Centennial Challenge. This is a grassroots effort to match Mayor Stewart’s original gift by raising $150,000, with 1,500 community members each making $100 donations. Now we have been given an incredible opportunity to help reach the challenge goal:

The Triad Foundation has generously offered to provide $20,000 in matching funds

when FSP reaches $20,000 in gifts for the Mayor Stewart Centennial Challenge for this month. To date, the Centennial Challenge has 270 supporters who have made gifts totaling over $33,000. But donations that qualifying for this match are only at $16,000. Your support is vital for this effort!

We need your help to take it us over the top and turn $20,000 for Stewart Park into $40,000 for Stewart Park with the generosity of the Triad Foundation. Join the Challenge and support YOUR park today!
